With the new year in full swing, I wanted share a milestone for Lil’ Baby Cakes. We are now in our 11th year online. As I move forward with the company I’m really excited about this year and look forward to supporting my customers with the best selections, service, and quality. Online trust and reputation is also very important to me. I work very hard with my team to make certain our product selection is diverse, our website offers a secure shopping experience, and that we are who we say we are.
We design and handmake every diaper cake in our studio. None of our diaper cakes are made elsewhere or drop shipped. That gives us complete control over the whole process. So what does that mean for you? It means we’re responsible for everything. No passing the buck, no excuses. You need a small tweak to the design. We can do it. You need a personalized touch. We can do that as well. You need to speak with me personally about any aspect of our products. Just call or email. Bottom line, we want you and the new mom to be absolutely thrilled with your purchase.
I wanted to also share with you our newest designs that have been received very well so far. The Too Cute Boy and Too Cute Girl baby diaper cakes have been a real hit with our customers. In fact, we have now sold out of the girl version and only have the boy version left. I have just completed a light green version which would be nice as a gender neutral gift. I think the fleece blankets add an appropriate touch to the design during these cold winter months.
We have a page on our website that you can visit to see all our 2010 New Diaper Cake designs as the year unfolds. Last year we introduced 33 new designs covering many different themes and price points. This year, Lil Baby Cakes will continue to roll out designs to meet a wide variety of tastes and budgets. I will continue to offer our customers one on one service for our custom diaper cakes. These are one of a kind designs specifically tailored to match a theme or interest the new family enjoys. The custom cake service really gives me a chance to express my creativity and is one of my true pleasures running Lil’ Baby Cakes. More information about our custom cake service is only a phone call or email away. I’d love to work with you to make your idea into a finished diaper cake.
We know there are a lot of choices for baby gifts. We will continue to strive to provide the most adorable diaper cakes that leave you, the gift giver, as the one the new mom remembers for the most unique gift she received. A new baby is a remarkable period in a new family’s life, and I want you to know that we will do everything to make our small role a memorable one for the new mom and for you.
To our past customers, thanks for your business. To our prospective new customers, I welcome you to consider Lil Baby Cakes. We’re here to make your gift giving experience one that absolutely delights the new mom.

We are happy to announce our collection of holiday diaper cakes for 2009. This year we are offering 4 new designs that are perfect for welcoming the new December baby home. Our first selection is our Holiday Snow Girl 4 Tier Diaper Cake. This design draws upon a winter snowman theme with pink accents. Our second design is the Holiday Snowflake 3 Tier Diaper Cake. This design uses silver and whites to create a gender neutral baby diaper cake. The third design is our Holiday Gingerbread 3 Tier Diaper Cake. This design is also gender neutral and obviously uses the gingerbread house as a theme. I really like the colors of this cake as it came together in a way that is looks good enough to eat! Our last design is the companion cake to Holiday Snow Girl called Holiday Snowman 4 Tier Diaper Cake. This design uses blues so that you can select this for the new baby boy.
I hope you enjoy these selections and consider one of them as a baby gift to welcome a new baby home in December.
Wishing you a happy holiday season.

How to Buy a Diaper Cake

I have put together a video buyer’s guide entitled “How to Buy a Diaper Cake”. I did this to create a standalone guide that would help people who are beginning their baby diaper cake or baby gift buying process. In the video I start with a basic definition about what a diaper cake is. We still get emails and phone calls from people innocently asking how many people does of our our newborn diaper cakes feed. Or another popular question is: “Do I have to refrigerate a diaper cake?” We don’t mind responding to these questions, I attribute them to folks not really knowing about diaper cakes and how they are used as baby shower centerpieces or for baby gift giving.
I continue on to discuss the types of diaper cakes (layered and folded) as well as a discussion about diapers that are used to make them. Even though I am showing our diaper cakes in the video, the video is not a sales pitch for Lil’ Baby Cakes. Instead, I offer what I feel are practical considerations when buying a newborn diaper cake along with shopping tips about shipping, site security, and diaper cake customization. There are many styles of baby shower diaper cakes and many different places they can be purchased. I also mention eco friendly diaper cakes and diaper cakes made with printed diapers to show the difference between those diapers and Pampers from an appearance perspective.
I hope you find the video instructive. Your comments are appreciated and are welcomed. Don’t hesitate to contact us at for assistance on any baby diaper cake question.
5 Essential Baby Shower Gifts for under $50

As most mothers know, we most likely had some baby gifts that go unused once the baby actually arrives. It may seem like a good product and something that will be used often when we received it, but once baby arrives, it never came out of the box to be used. Typically the new mom looks for the most practical and easiest products to deal with. Naturally, the “gotta haves” like a crib, stroller, and car seat are required but they represent higher priced items.
I thought it would be helpful to list some baby shower gifts that are reasonably priced and sure to use items for the care of the new baby. Here’s 5 essential baby shower gifts that I put together that are all under $50.
Swaddling Blankets
Babies love to be swaddled and some newborns have a hard time sleeping unless they are tightly swaddled. Even if a mom doesn’t use swaddling blankets as actual swaddlers, they can be used for laying baby on the floor, covering baby outside, and covering up when breastfeeding. There are plenty of uses that a mom and baby can get from swaddling blankets.
Baby Medicine
Baby medicine is usually a baby product that most new moms forget about until it’s 2am and the baby is running a fever. Prepare mom for those nights by giving her items such as Infant Tylenol Balmex, Orajel, and Pedialyte to have on hand.
Sleepers and Onesies
New parents often find out that their baby wears more sleepers and onesies than any other outfit. Yes, there are so many cute outfits for little boys and girls, but many times those outfits go unworn as it is just not practical to put a baby in them. Instead look for cute sleepers (I preferred the ones that zipped instead of button types) and onesies that you know the baby will get good use out of.
Gift Card For Carry Out
When a new baby arrives, the last thing that a mom wants to do or has time to do is cook. This is when a gift card to her favorite carry out restaurant comes in handy. When mom is happy and less stressed, the baby can be happy and better taken care of. Everyone needs a break now and then and this makes a great idea.
Diapers
Every baby is going to need diapers and in the beginning a baby goes through a lot of diapers. If you do buy diapers for a baby shower, I recommend avoiding buying newborn size diapers and sticking with size 1 or even 2 instead. Some babies do not even fit into newborn size diapers when they are born or they quickly outgrow that size in a couple of days. If you want a creative way to give diapers, think about getting a diaper cake made for the baby shower gift. Yes, I’m obviously biased.
We have several diaper cakes that are priced under $50.
I hope you found these baby gift ideas useful. Perhaps you have some you would like to share. Feel free to add your comments.
